OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS:
By participating in this Contest, each entrant agrees to be legally bound by these Official Contest Rules and Regulations (the “Rules“).

  1. CONTEST PERIOD:

The Contest begins on October 17th, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. Eastern Time (ET) and ends on November  1st, 2017 at 11:59 P.M. (the “Contest Period“).

  1. ELIGIBILITY:

The Contest is open to legal residents of Ottawa who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry, except employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are domiciled) of The Ottawa Safety Council (the “Sponsor“), its subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, prize suppliers, advertising/promotion agencies  and any other entity involved in the development, production, administration, or fulfillment of the Contest (collectively, the “Contest Parties“).

  1. HOW TO ENTER:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Two options are available, you may like the Ottawa Safety Council Facebook page, viewed at https://www.facebook.com/OttawaSafetyCouncil/ and share the post about the contest, found on the same page. Or, you can sign up for one of the Best Fit events available at https://www.eventbrite.ca/myevents/.

  1. ENTRY LIMITS:

There is a limit of one (1) Entry per person/Account during the Contest Period.  For greater certainty and the avoidance of any doubt, you can only use one (1) Account to enter the Contest.  If it is discovered by the Sponsor (using any evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Sponsor) that any person has attempted to: (i) exceed any of the limits provided in these Rules; and/or (ii) use multiple names, identities, email addresses, Accounts and/or any automated, macro, script, robotic or other system(s) or program(s) to enter or otherwise participate in or to disrupt this Contest; then he/she may be disqualified from the Contest in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor.  Your Entry may be rejected if (in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor) it is not submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period.  The Released Parties (defined below) are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, delayed, incomplete, illegible or incompatible Entries (all of which are void).

All Entries and entrants are subject to verification at any time and for any reason.  The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to the Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification): (i) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in this Contest; (ii) for the purposes of verifying the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Reply or other information submitted (or purportedly submitted) for the purposes of this Contest; and/or (iii) for any other reason the Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering this Contest in accordance with these Rules.  Failure to provide such proof to the complete satisfaction of the Sponsor within the timeline specified by the Sponsor may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor.  The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of this Contest will be the Sponsor’s Website server machine(s).

  1. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, YOU AGREE THAT THE ENTRY (AND EACH INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT THEREOF) COMPLIES WITH ALL CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE RULES. THE RELEASED PARTIES (DEFINED BELOW) WILL BEAR NO LEGAL LIABILITY REGARDING THE USE OF YOUR ENTRY (OR ANY COMPONENT THEREOF) BY THE CONTEST PARTIES.

  1. PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES:

Both Prices available to be won will allow the choice between four (4) available car seats (labeled bellow) and a car seat installation session valued at $75 CAD before tax.

The choice of car seat are:

  • Cosco Topside valued around $27 CAD before tax
  • Cosco Scenera Next valued around $89 CAD before tax
  • Safety 1st Alpha Omega 65 valued around $129 CAD before tax
  • Harmony Defender 360 Valued around $169 CAD before tax
  1. PRICE WINNER SELECTION PROCESS:

On November 2nd, 2017 (the “Selection Date“), all participants of the contest will have their name printed on a ballet (All ballet of equal size) and then placed in a container. Once all names are in place, Sharalyn Crossfield (BestFit Program coordinator) will select 2 names and contact the winners. In the event of two names being pulled at the same time both names will be put back in the container for a redraw. The odds of winning the Prize depend on the number of eligible participants received during the Contest Period.

The Sponsor or its designated representative will make a maximum of three (3) attempts to contact the potential Prize winner by email or telephone (using the information associated with his/her Account) within ten (10) days of the Selection Date. If the potential Prize winner cannot be contacted within a maximum of three (3) attempts or ten (10) days of the Selection Date or there is a return of any notification as undeliverable; then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the available Prizes) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to select a different the eligible.
BEFORE BEING DECLARED THE CONFIRMED WINNER, the potential Prize winner must sign and return within ten (10) business days of notification a declaration and release prepared by the Sponsor, which, among other things: (i) confirms compliance with these Rules; (ii) agrees to release the Released Parties from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from any liability in connection with this Contest and/or his/her participation therein; (iii) assigns all intellectual property, including copyright, in and to his/her Reply to the Sponsor and waives his/her moral rights therein in favour of the Sponsor; (iv) agrees to indemnify the Released Parties against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from any use of his/her Reply, including, without limitation, any claim that his/her Reply infringes a proprietary interest of any third party; (v) acknowledges acceptance of the Prize as awarded; (vi) releases the Released Parties from any and all liability in connection with the awarding and/or his/her use/misuse of the Prize or any portion thereof; and (vii) agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of his/her name, address, voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by, or on behalf of, the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet. The Sponsor may require that the eligible Prize winner provide confirmation in a form acceptable to the Sponsor, of the grant of rights of all individuals (or their parent or legal guardian if a minor) with rights in the Reply; or, where the Prize winner cannot secure such confirmation, the Prize winner agrees to work with the Sponsor to obtain such rights. The Sponsor is in no way obligated to use, reproduce, publish or broadcast, modify any Reply, and any use shall be in the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion.
If the potential Prize winner: (a) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; and/or (b) cannot accept the Prize for any reason; then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to select the eligible entrant who received the next highest Score to be the potential Prize winner (in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such new potential Prize winner).

  1. GENERAL CONDITIONS:

ANYONE DEEMED BY THE SPONSOR TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE SPONSOR AT ANY TIME.

The Released Parties will not be liable for: (i) any technical malfunction or other problems relating to the Internet, the Website, telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; (ii) the failure of any Entry to be received by the Contest Parties for any reason including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, the Website or at any other website; (iii) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading any material in the Contest; and/or (iv) any combination of the above.

In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an Entry, Entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the Account that was used to submit the Entry in question. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the person who is assigned an email address by an internet provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. An entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the Account that was used to submit the Entry in question and, if applicable, that he/she has all necessary consents, permissions and/or licenses as required by these Rules.

The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to withdraw, suspend or amend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error or any kind, or for any other reason. Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law.

This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal, including, without limitation, any decisions regarding the eligibility/disqualification of entrants and Entries.

The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, and without prior notice, to adjust any of the dates and/or timeframes stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant or Entry with these Rules, or as a result of technical problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules.

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, the terms and conditions of these Rules shall prevail, govern and control.
